Gazbg They resurrected her as human because that's the way the spell was written. And the writers did it that way because they needed a human Darla to use against Angel.

Gazbg/b> In season one of Buffy there was an episode entitled "Angel". Number seven it was (if I recall right.) That was the episode in which Buffy discovered that Angel was a vampire, and in which Darla tried to set him up to fight Buffy. Kill or be killed. That confrontation concluded with Angel staking Darla with a spent crossbow bolt while her attention was fixated on shooting Buffy in the kneecaps. That was the end of Darla for four years, until Wolfram and Hart thoughtfully resurrected her. That answer your question?

BTW Please spell your words in full when you post. It makes for easier reading.

*thud thud thud*....gone

Angelphyre saunters into the Bronze. She looks tired as her eyes are red and swollen. "Yay Spring. So I lack enthusiasm...bite me." She conjours up her usual comfy chair, some Visine, a box of tissues, and her allergy medicine. She sits down looking incredibly pathetic and pouty. She glances around the Bronze to see who's about...

illedrac If that did happen, I'd be superly jealous!! (I live in Germany where TV is pretty limited.) They do reruns of Friends, Dawson's Creek, Ally McBeal, Any Day Now and a couple of other shows Saturday mornings on AFN Spectrum. I wish they would do Buffy reruns...I'd be in HEAVEN!

gazbg: I don't know if you are serious or not, but in case you are, reread your post to me and then look at the left side of this screen, you will see Buffy links most likely, unless you chose "No Frames" either way, if you go to the "Mortuary" and look in "Season One" or "Anno 1" you will find an Episode titled "Angel"... that is where the question comes from, reread your own last post a few times and hopefully this will make sense... I see how you are confused, but its about knowing the order of the Buffyverse timeline for each character...

Darla was Resurrected in the Season One Finale of Angel by Wolfram & Hart. Lyndsie also lost his hand in this episode, which was severed by Angel by a sword when Lyndsie picked up the scroll to finish the ritual that called for Five Sacrifices. Similary, The Annointed One, Colin, which was featured in Buffy seasons 1 and 2, was to rise from "The ashes of Five (the annointed shall rise)" these events have yet to be related though, seemingly they are "coincidence" I really can't answer anything else, I have to get some sleep... Good night!

illedrac: I remember reading somewhere when Star Trek Voyager went into Syndication (reruns five nights a week in this examples' case) that a show has to reach its fifth year or season before it can qualify or be considered for syndication. I am not sure on the accuracy of this, but I do think Buffy will find Syndication with the WB, much like Star Trek the next generation did for so many years! Hope this helps you out...
gazbg: Have you seen Angel season two yet? I don't want to get into it, but if you haven't then that explains why you asked this question... gazbg: Well the reason i say Harmony is older is due to Season two and season five are quite a few years apart, Harmony was sired durring Graduation Day at the age of about 17-18... Colin was no older than 10 years old and died within a year and a half of being sired, so technically Harmony is older, I was referring to collective age, {Time as a human and a vampire.} Hope that helps, I think I need to take 20 mins unless I risk overposting I think... Penlind... I never really thought of it as Angel of the Miracles... but that's actually pretty nice *g*. As it is, my name could be roughly translated as Little White Angel, which I don't particulary love, but it's okay, I suppose. :)
I actually think the Pagan thing is rather intriguing. It's a conversation starter, eh? *g* To answer your question... I've not yet graduated high school, so I'm not planning on having kids yet. :) I always loved the name Siria, though, but I have no idea where I got it from! That and Chandra. Don't know if they're fitting for a little girl, but ... :)

Taryn ... I had trouble with that cobra monster, too. It's not that it wasn't ... monstery enough ... it just wasn't believable. Didn't ruin the episode for me, though.

slayerdaddy - I've seen you. You do not require a Clydesdale. There are a number of good sturdy working horses that could carry you. Unless you insist on dropping from a balcony. I wouldn't ask an animal to do that for me, either. *g*

Wolfguard - ominously Be careful how you speak of color TVs. A sensitive subject. *g* When we returned from London some 35 years ago, my father announced that one of the first things he was going to buy was a color TV. The first TV that he bought was a tiny portable. I looked at it and asked where the color was, and he said that you had to push the color button. As I was looking for it the rest of the family fell over laughing. Of course, it was only black and white. *sniff* But I took it to college, and it had a home with us for 10 or 15 years. I was very sad when it died.

Amberlynne - May 22nd? *gulp* Have fun. Erm, who is Maya Angelou? Don't beat me, I'm old and reclusive and ignorant.

Mia: I never said a thing about hating the Bronze, its the other way around, no matter what I do The Bronze* [*Those here that feel they make up the majority} hate me, I never hate anyone, except "Wanka" maybe... As for all this drama, no one said anything nice so why should I? (But why kick a dead horse, in the end you only annoy the flies and Maggots, eewww)

Mr. Whyt: what can I say...? I must be doomed to the fate YOU assigned to me, poor poor G e o ....
*eyeroll* *g*
Leather Jacket: "There’s rules, there’s advice and there’s common courtesy.“ Agreed!! "4-posts-per-hour” is a rule." Followed, not broken... “Only VIPs can use color” is a rule (and pretty well enforced, too)“ Followed, not broken.. (Agreed!). "Address people by name” is advice (helps get you noticed) Don’t use someone else’s name” is courtesy“ Followed, not broken... Notice I underlined a good point for you (I know all about getting noticed on the Bronxe) and it reallyis courtesy not to use someone else's name. *eg* . "The Spoiler Warning policy here is both courtesy and advice." Followed; claimed broken and at trial before the Jury of hell; because it was not in perfect format as stated by some rather ______ (Fill in blank) "Bronzers" with their Bronze Bibles printed out before them.
Yes suggested format and my format didnot match exactly... If common curtesy had been considered in the advice then maybe the rules would have seemed like less of an attack, I bet none of you realise how hard it is to write html code and intelligent chatter to an audience that are harsh and critical to new people from outside their own little realms/nest/flock/final resting place/cemetery/habitat/hell. You all seem eager to push people away for not instantly adhering to "your way of life". If they had put themselves in my shoes and realised that a person can only take so much negative energy, then maybe this whole drama could have been avoided. I know you all can at least pretend to understand what I mean and ease up... I did mark my posts with spoiler warning. In most stated pretty obviously and carefully placed, I cannot help it if my posts are vivid or "hard to not read in part", what you read is your business.

Well now, has certainly been a busy day in the Bronze community action debate hall... I find it funny that no matter how many times I told you all, you still were fighting yourselves... I could have instantly taken to your advice, but it just went on and on, by persisting in the complaining, advice, rule typing, whatever you want to call it you made me punish you like bad little bunnies... The joke has been on all of you all day. What started as a mistake turned into something pretty darn stupid... I am surprised more of you did not realise this like Leather Jacket, he earns Anya Ranking any day! heh, For those of you that can't take a joke that is too bad, but as I don't want to be friends with the entire world anyhow.
One other thing, if you read this and feel the urge to reply to anything above this paragraph, resist it. I am "Officially" ending it now... I will try to follow the listed Suggested ways to post and whatnot, but don't jump on me for a minor mistake, chances are, as I am a newbie to this board, I didn't do it on purpose, and in good faith of this attempt I present Spoilerific Fantastidasticiddly Tada! =) (Brian Fart, ew, a stinky one too)

And How do you all feel about the topics below? Please remember to use Spoiler Warnings!! (lol)

The Flame typically takes scentless oils, but oils with essence of lilac and rose are used for bezoars, and peppermint is used when the board is dead. Serious purifying rituals after flame wars require the presence of a Priestess (of which, I am the only one), and are not to be attempted by the laity. :) Fortunately, we've only had the one Ritual.

Nu: No prob. :) I'll probably repost that tomorrow just so some more people will know about it.

bluestocking: Well, I'm not always Buffy's greatest supporter but I do think that for the most part she tries to do her best. She makes mistakes but everyone does. To some extent I think she takes her friends for granted -- but I got that impression more last season than this...I think she's more grown up now and dealing with everything the best she can.

Okay, I need to get going. Have a great night!

Shadow was alright. There seems to be less slaying and more drama is this season. Spike was funny with the whole smelling of the buffsters sweater. I'm starting to feel really bad about Riley but I don't understand why he went to get himself bit and then killed Sandy - speaking of which, where have I seen her before?? I'm thinking that she's been in the show before but I can't remember when. Oh! I just remembered! She's the chick from Dopplegandland episode when Willow had a twin. She's the girl that evil Willow bit! Ahhh, I feel much better now. I want kookiness and crazy capers...I'm missing that kinda stuff. I hope this whole drama with her mum is going somewhere good.

Well, May 22nd to be exact. *L* I am planning on going with my roommate. I am confused. You are feeding the fifths popcorn?

Rosebud
Daughter-let, Lethal jelly beans? Are you at war with your sister?

Hollyn
Xander doesn't approach Buffy as a friend. He attacks her. He lies to her. When he says he knew the relationship was in trouble. She asks who told him and he said no one inferring that she is too self involved to have seen the obivious signs. Which of course Xander didn't notice until Riley told him. And self involved with her mother's near death illness, Gloria, the Watcher's council, and Dawn but heck she should have found time to wallow at Riley's feet and say "Oh dear I am helpless. I need you. YOu are brave and strong I can breathe without your help" Sorry I came out of the time out corner too soon I am going back now.

Heya,

I still think Buffy is a crap friend to Willow et al on many occassions. Just mho. I'm talking about the lying, shutting out, expecting Willow to drop everything at her beck and call (okay, world saveage yes, but there's some degree of being taken for granted there)...

just a feeling o'mine.

And I know Buffy being blond is part of the joke. My friends and I just have a pathological hatred of perky blondes based on their unfair economic advantages (better jobs, better husbands, always being offered a seat on the train...all that stuff). qv Julie Brown's "Cause I'm a Blond" :P

Next new episode April 17. Please don't post about the promo until you've learned how to do spoiler warnings.

Happy Birthday Apollo/Justin

Posting w/o much scrolling or I'll never post.

Algerina, wolfguard - Spike on a Lipizzaner? I've met one. I've ridden one. Absolutely not! The physical and mental violence, the lack of control paired to the sensitivity and grace of such an animal? It's impossible. He is beneath them. What he needs is a rodeo bull.

newfan - I thought you'd like that one. I confess that I didn't pull samples of all my yarns. I wouldn't want you to think that I'm obsessive or anything. *g* Ahh, the promo. *sigh* Um, you must have some heavy heating bills, but it's a very practical arrangement for laundry. *g* The dog. The few times I've had to deal with a leash puller, it seemed to help if I treated it like a horse that leans on the bit. Constantly give and take on the lead, not jerks, just pressure on and off. But my experience wasn't all that wide and it was a long time ago.

Claris - Well, I could possibly retain my purist attitude about the sanctity of fudge to rise above the foreknowledge of your evil plans. Afterwards, who knows? But you'd have to be unexpectedly evil to fall on a level with the .. the .. persons (to put it loosely) who stole my good cheese and left me the rind. snarling, growling, gnashing of fangs ensues

Antipodean - Oooh, I'd forgotten about key guy.
(and if I make it out of this post without dropping a tag, I will be most grateful)

StGermain - Not that you're a hopeless softie or anything. You are swiftly going the way of 4paws. And congratulations on your new family member. *g*

chiquens - If I remember correctly that David B. spent time in Hawaii, he must have seen a number of your relatives. You know, the ones that like to terrify tourists. If he survived that, possibly he could survive meeting you. *g*

I live in fear. My local WB channel has started carrying baseball. Not on Tuesday, so far, but who knows how deep the evil will spread. Can't we have another baseball strike?

Well, you know, as I always say, life is ironic, and it's not always fair. It's like when your are waiting for the spit of destiny to crush into your eye, so you close your left eye and the spit hits you in your right eye, wich was open. What you have to do in this cases is to use the napkin of friendhip to clean up the mess... but I'm not suggesting you take some of your friends from the hair to clean the saliva, because meybe your friend could get angry and kick you in the eye that you closed, and you'll end up with a bleeding and infected eye, and the other one full of someone else's saliva. Am I making myself clear?

Hi, horizon! - I'm peachy! May have adopted another dog. :-)

Penlind 2 - You should have your department members read things like Quidam's paper on the Bronze - he's a grad student/instructor at George Washington University (I think), an ethnographer. Also, Sarah Nicole and someone else are co-authoring a book about the Bronze as a societal paradigm or something. Here's her post from yesterday:
SarahNicole says:

To all lurking and posting Bronzers, VIPs included

You have most likely heard about the different projects that several members of the The Bronze Posting Board at www.buffy.com have commenced. These projects have examined various aspects of the community that has developed therein over the last few years, such as the folklore of the community, status and prestige, and the ideological position of the series in its cultural context. The project that SarahNicole and willa are working on is different on several points.

First, ours is a systematic study in the sociological tradition of ethnography. Second, it has grown organically out of both our own experiences as part of the Posting Board membership and our professional interests. Finally, the project links the first two points in the sense that it connects our findings to a larger world of social theory and observation about human behavior, focusing especially on the Internet as a new source of community development and as a new tool and site for research.

As you may have noticed during one of your forays into The Bronze, in the summer and fall of 1998, we began posting information about the project and the link to an online survey for
members to fill out. We have a shiny new survey that asks some more specific questions about more recent developments in The Bronze. It is located at:
New Survey
(Please note, the "consent form" link is not working right now, but you can find it here directly:
Consent Form or link to it from the original site.

If you never participated in the original survey, and are interested in doing so, you may find it here: original survey , or go to: http://sociweb.tamu.edu/Faculty/GATSON/Gatson.htm to link to the information from there. Any problems with the forms, email gatson@unix.tamu.edu

As for AIM - do you have a little yellow man on your tool bar?

Hey all!
Ringing in on dogs- newfan- I must say there are no "bad breeds".. I have never met a so-called bad breed that was bad. As to your doggie dilEmma, first off, is she spayed? Unspayed females are a bit more in your face than spayed. Second off, have you established yourself as the alpha-wolf? There's no need to train aggressively or crate as punishment-which I think sucks- once she knows that you lead the pack, as in the family, she'll find her place in the hierarchy. I have had -well still do have!- dogs that challenged me, but a bit of a sharp "NO!" and if necessary wrestling them off my place on the couch worked fine, or if one had an item of mine and was chewing, "Drop it! Now!".. they understand far more than humans usually give them credit for :)

VIP Spotting: Tune in tomorrow to MTV at 4pm Central Time and airing again at 10:30pm Central to watch "Celebrity Undercover". Our very own Charisma Carpenter will be taking part in it. It's basically like their cancelled FANatic series. They videotape a fan meeting and hanging out with their favorite celebrity but at the same time some type of prank is played on the fan and the celebrity is in on it. It's been pretty entertaining. I'm just glad to see that Charisma's not afraid to reach out to some of her fans.

The guy on who's farm it is allows the boyscouts in there, but I don't think anyone else has really looked at it. I'm right smack dab in the middel of Mound-builder country. There are three moundsabout 20 miles away. The Smithsonian excavated 2 of them in the '20's I believe, but have left the third alone. They found some stuff in one of them that is unlike anything else found at mound-builder sites. On of my sisters, Lisa, was an archeology major until she dropped out of college to travel. If you are serious about having me spend some time with you, I would love to. I would have to figure it out financially, so I'd need to know where & how much. StG...It was those very discussions that drew me here! While I am a fan of Buffy, as a reflection of Modern Epicism and a really cool show, it is actually the Bronzers that keep myself and the others in the department coming back...or rather, they send me back to run off the nights postings so that they can read them the next day. There is a certain Dr. K, a swiss theology expert who is mad about Thoin. Seventy-seven years old, and he chortles like a teenager in love every time she spreads her wings and flies into the rafters, or sends someone else there. Wolfguard has the entire department panting to have over for dinner and deep discussion. Old One has our Persian mythology instructor in a twitter. You argue, you banter, you debate, and frankly, you are all often more amusing and insightful than the show you are gathering to discuss. Yeah, good and evil drew me!

Tell your mom thanks. One or the other of you are getting this bird if he can't be released. Have I told you he is a Marsh Harrier? About 20 in. long, beautiful white and brown tones, with black tips on the end of his wings. Probably wrestled with a crow in mid-air...crows do not have a great love for them, as they eat the crow babies. Hence, the reason I can't keep him. Roland says he will pack his lambykins and leave if the killer isn't gone soon.

This summer Rye is still putting in motion. This is rather late to be planning, but he is definitely working on a site near Newgrange, so Ireland is a must. We need to have our roof rethatched anyway. I'll be doing a study of shoe magic that has been found in the area, and I'm excited about that! Malta and Gozo, for sure, as always. We usually rent a farmhouse. That's cheaper...rooms at hotels run about 130 dollars per night, US, while a farmhouse with pool is $50.00. Not bad, eh? Have to go to Vienna, and promised to act as translator for a brother, James, who has permission to enter LasCaux, LaGrotte, and the Neanderthal. I think I will get to spend about two weeks in my country, Luxembourg, YEAH! Any of it sound appealing? The kids spend their summers with their grandmother on dig site, so we would be footloose and fancy free. Hey, what are you trained for? Did you say you are job-hunting?

1)What, in your opinion, is the worst ever Buffy ep?
Anne

2) What colour are your eyes (bloodshot is not a colour)? Shady Green

XX I can't talk about cars and bikes right now ::sniff::

4) What is your Favourite colour? Black

5) Where would you most like to live? Scotland or Maine

6) When you were a child, what job did you want to do when you grew up? I wanted to be Martin Luther Kind, Jr. actually...

7) Is that the job you have now? Well, no.

8) If they made a Buffy movie with it's own Big Bad, what actor/actress would you like to see playing that character and what would it be?
Actually, I would bring Robia LaMorte as the First Evil. Amends kinda set the tone for something bigger, and I think that should be expanded upon.

As for the dude who hated Buffy 'cause she was blonde... I didn't agree with anything else he said either. She is a good friend to Willow, she is a good girlfriend, I mean... it's too late to defend the Buffster. She can kick booty without me, so...

I know where the name "Irene Adler" comes from!! It's from the character of Destiny in the X-Men comics!! Mine comes from comics, too, but it's kind obscure (it's Marvel, too, and -kinda- X-Men related). Anyway, I felt the need to tattle, so...

I actually put the stuff together about Buffy not looking Riley in the eyes. I had a conversation with my friend Emily. She thinks Riley was being a jerk when Riley said "You say that, but I just don't feel it." I think he was valid! When did Buffy overtly express her love for him? Does she think that sex does that? She never even said "I love you" - something Tori Bagshaw, a fellow Buffy-ite friend of mine, pointed out a week before "The Replacement" I'm not the greatest Riley fan, but everything he said in his speech to Buffy was true.

Lady Wolfsbane — I wasn't aware it was your post originally, nor of your definition of "crate". I reacted that way because I've seen people do that and worse to animals, and because "pet owners" frequently do inflict punishments on animals to assuage their own feelings and not as a training aid...

Thank you slayerdaddy, for speaking out about the crate.

newfan Challenge! Yep.
I was told once that dogs want to be touched and found that if I held my hands behind my back until my pooch settled then she began to sit to get her attention. The other thing I did, just out of frustration of her jumping on me when I arrived home, was to have her get on her bed first. Man, it worked like a charm!! Even now she greets me at the door and without my encouragement insists I follow her to her bed before I do anything else, and she waits to be acknowledged.

Here is a questionaire posted earlier today that I didn't have an opportunity to respond to. Sorry, I don't know the original poster.
1)What, in your opinion, is the worst ever Buffy ep?
The Puppet Show

2) What colour are your eyes (bloodshot is not a colour)? Blue

3) Do you drive/ride? If so what car/bike do you have? Drive a car!

4) What is your Favourite colour? Blue

5) Where would you most like to live? I suppose if I lived there I would want to live somewhere else!

6) When you were a child, what job did you want to do when you grew up? Script Supervisor

7) Is that the job you have now? Yes, when there is work in my local area.

8) If they made a Buffy movie with it's own Big Bad, what actor/actress would you like to see playing that character and what would it be? Willem Dafoe or Kathy Bates. The character? Shoot, I will leave that up to the creative minds at Mutant Enemy.

When Buffy says to Riley that she gave him her “heart, body and soul” she looks away and doesn’t look into his eyes. Now, whether it was SMG unable to look at Marc or Buffy unable to look at Riley I wonder. But if it was Buffy unable to look at Riley it seems indicative of her inability to give her heart to Riley. Once burned…

Well, if she sleeps on the bed, occasionally can make you yelp and sometimes steals toys - that's kinda three out of four. *g* It doesn't make any sense - but dogs really do seem to think that way. Good luke with changing it's outlook!!!

Rosebud and Slayerdaddy
A crate isn't a punishment! When I say crate - I mean plush, comfortable doggie kennel-cab with chew toys and a blankie. Do you think I mean a splitered packing box? *g* It's all based on the theory that wolves live in dens, and animal instincts dictate puppies want to mess outside the den... and any vet can explain what "crate training" is. I think it's practally universally understood. Like paper training isn't "beat a dog with newspapers", crate training isn't punishment - when properly used it's a safe haven to a dog, a comforting place to go and have a quiet time when he should never be bothered or molested. I've seen dogs rush to their crate when their nervous, want to be alone, frightened...

And I never said anything about discipline. There's nothing punishing about a crate. And "screaming claustrophobic terror??!" That's extreme. I hope that was directed at a post that I missed here somewhere, and not at mine.

paksenarrion
Well then think of it this way...
You cat is stressed. Miserable. Feeling self-centered and sorry for itself. It misses you. Goes to some of you clothes, because they smell like you (clean or not - they can still smell you on your clothes). Need to relieve the stress. Big time. Like chewing fingernails or smoking - this cat instead chews clothes to calm down. Therefore - it chews your clothes.

Dogs are notorious for chewing while people are away - to relieve stress, not to anger people. I guess your cat is part dog, not part siamese *g*

I'm not an animal behavorist. Yet. But you just wait 'till I am...*g*

Top 5 reasons why Buffy annoys me:
1. She's blonde
2. She was very mean to Wesley
3. She's shagged Angel
4. She's not a very good friend to Willow
5. She's not much of a girlfriend, either

We've got Season three being repeated in various timeslots on Fox8 down here. It's really hard to watch the gang be really cruel to Wesley, because I just know every barb is cutting deep. My poor baby. He's the new kid on the block and they're making his life hell.

Sometimes the gang can be very cruel and exclusive. Tara is another case in point.

Sorry everyone, student needed help. Didn't mean to drop out!

Newfan...Oh boy. Now promise you won't stop talking to me. There are three branches of the Friends, with many more sub-groups, in America. Your branch, the Orthodox, are the original, and generally use elders, ministers, structured service. In the mid-1800's, you started using the public (you)..in family and friends community, we still use the personal (thee, thou, thy). The second branch emerged in the late 1600's to early 1700's, and are the Hickite. The Wilburites are new, being formed in 1845 by John Wilbur. We do not use ministers, we tend to be conservative in clothing, even wearing the covering on Sabbath, and do not have an elders board, or (swallow) go strictly by scripture. The majority of us feel that our relationship should be one on one with that being we call God. There is no right or wrong, only knowledge of this being. Every person knows this being, every person struggles to build a relationship with it in their own way. The name is not important, the being is...and yes, it is a being of light. My mother is a direct decendant of the Starbucks, my father of the Penns. You pegged it that night you wrote me and asked!

binks...Thanks! Family of archeologists, what can I say. Her middle name is Brighid (pronounced "Breed"), and she likes that because "no one else has my name."

Lady Wolfsbane Nope, he is a barn cat. My b/f cousin has a dairy farm and someone dropped a pregnant cat off at her neighbors. The neighbor did not want to keep the cat but let it live in her garage. I was wvisiting one day and fell in love with the littlwe bugger and brought him home. Everything was fine, until I changed jobs-had to work more hours. Rascal was letting me know he was feeling neglected-boy did he! I thought maybe if I got him a playmate, the behavior would lessen. It did to some extent, but whenever Rascal feels I've been neglecting him-chomp chomp. He only eats at my clothes BTW- the b/f's are nevertouched. Neither were my sister's(when she housesat for a week). *sigh* I still love the little stinker, and I have learned to always pick up my clothes.

I agree that animals can not distingush between "good" and "bad" human things. Which is why you NEVER give a puppy an old shoe to chew on-they don't know the difference. But thanks for the words of advice.

Lady Wolfsbane! Oh goody! I'll do that, thanks! And thanks for the advice. Let's see...too late re: the beds. I swore I would never have a bed-sleeping dog again, but although she started out on her own bed...she quickly began sleeping with the kids, and moved on to sleeping on my bed as soon as I fall asleep. I wake up and she's there. Can't shut the door - closed doors make my cat go crazy. *sigh* That battle is lost. Re: eating after us, yes we do that. Re: toys, I never let her win or even play tug of war...but sometimes when she's hyper she grabs the kids' toys and tears around the house with them until I chase her down, and sometimes - but rarely - when she's home alone she chews legs of their Batmen etc. The #3 advice is tricky. Most of the time that is no problem, she even lets the boys lie all over her. But when she's resisting me, she goes for the hand-nip if I reach towards her collar to (for example) pull her off the bed. She is unfazed if this makes me yell - she just barks louder! *sigh*

Rosebud! LOL! Yes they are wonderful if stubborn. I try the ignoring thing when she goes ballistic on guests - I tell them not to greet her until she settles...but she is extra-stubborn. It's a challenge. :)

OO! Here too! Yesterday I was cursing all weathermen (easy to blame them...) for the continued damp cold...but today put a smile on my face :)

Be blessed,

Now it is such a bizarrely improbable conincidence that anything so mindbogglingly useful [as the Babel fish] could have evolved purely by chance that some thinkers have chosen to see it as a final and clinching proof of the nonexistence of God.The argument goes something like this: "I refuse to prove that I exist" says God, "for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing." "But," says Man, "the Babel fish is a dead giveaway, isn't it? It could not have evolved by chance. It proves you exist, and so therefore, by your own arguments, you don't. QED." "Oh dear," says God, "I hadn't thought of that," and promptly vanishes in a puff of logic. "Oh, that was easy," says Man, and for an encore goes on to prove that black is white and gets himself killed on the next zebra crossing.
Douglas Adams
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

Calvin: Dad, how come old photographs are always black and white? Didn't they have color film back then?
Dad: Sure they did. In fact, those old photographs are in color. It's just the world was black and white then.
Calvin: Really?
Dad: Yep. The world didn't turn color until sometime in the 1930s, and it was pretty grainy color for a while, too.
Calvin: That's really weird.
Dad: Well, truth is stranger than fiction.
Calvin: But then why are old paintings in color?! If their world was black and white, wouldn't artists have painted it that way?
Dad: Not necessarily. A lot of great artists were insane.
Calvin: But... but how could they have painted in color anyway? Wouldn't their paints have been shades of gray back then?
Dad: Of course, but they turned colors like everything else did in the '30s.
Calvin: So why didn't old black and white photos turn color too?
Dad: Because they were color pictures of black and white, remember?
Calvin: The world is a complicated place, Hobbes.

Sighing deeply, Thoin sets the Purse on the table and...opens it. Wise Bronzers dive for cover. She opens the purse and takes out...a sock. It is wrinkled and looks like it hasn't seen the inside of a washing machine in, possibly, years. She sets it down and gives it a little nudge. It immeidately hops away into the Lurkage. At first there is silence, then a small shriek, followed by some noises best left undescribed. Suddenly Adri rushes out of the Lurkage, one hand over her nose, the other holding out Thoin's Fifth, the sock in hot pursuit. Adri drops the Fifth in Thoin's lap and backs away, her face a delicate shade of green. The sock hovers, but doesn't approach her again...she turns and flees, sobbing and the sock hops happily into the Purse. Thoin pulls out a small bottle of air freshener and sprays it inside the Purse liberally before cuddling the sweet, shiny little Fifth, wrapping it in a soft cloth and tucking it away in the depths of the now lemon-fresh Purse...

Dianne: I think you missed the Asatruists, worshippers of Odin and the other Norse Gods. Though since Hitler stole one of their most holy symbols, renamed it the Swastika, and took it for his own, they've got enough catching up to do already.

Aside from them, I think you've managed to aim something at just about everyone. *g*

Is your cat a siamese by any chance? Eating fabrics is a known behavior problem, espicially in siamese. Don't ever confuse it with spite. Cat's don't have clothes... they don't understand what the difference is between a new sheet and a sheet full of holes to a human. To a cat it's all just human stuff.

Rosebud
Very true.

newfan
Yes! Your picture with Steph turned out particularly great. *growl of envy* Sent me your Snail-mail, and I'll mail them to you! (I'm behind in my scanning...)

And there's no such thing as a bad breed, what are you talking about? *g* There's badly breeding in dogs, sure...

Dominance.

The leader of a pack has.. maybe four main rights. Best sleeping spot, first food, privacy and toy ownership.

Number #1
Don't let her sleep on the bed. Ever. A submissive dog sure, but a dominate dog must have a bed on a low floor, far beneith you.

Number #2
Don't feed her until you've fed yourself. Never give into begging. After dessert, when you're licking your chops - feed her then. Reinforces the pecking order.

Number #3
Have control of her body. You must be able to groom her, touch her paws, tail, feet, whatever she's protective of.

Number #4
Never let her own the toys. Never let her win tug of war, a wrestling match, don't let her bite the leash. Anything.

If you can stick by rules like that - there's no dominance issue. You totally rule, in a dog's eyes.

P.S.
With leash pulling, everytime she pulls - change your mind about the direction you want to go. She goes right, you go left. She goes home, you go around the block again. If she can't predict which way you'll be walking, she'll slowly stop pulling and pay attention.

Thoin
Send away... try it at least...

Dog issues...

Before putting a dog in a crate as a disciplinary action please, please seek the advise of a few vets or animal behavorists. I may be wrong here but it strikes me as abusive remember, throwing of tomatos has been banned while on premises!

newfan My girl is 1/2 pit 1/2 lab, known as a pitlab. :) She is stubborn but most of all highly intelligent with one helluva memory. Although she never bares her teeth to me she is quite insistant and just doesn't give up. Ignoring her has been the best tactic although I must admit that she has me somewhat trained.:( One thing I have learned is not to respond during the questionable behavior but rather wait until she is calm to respond. In that way I reinforce her good behavior rather then responding to her bad behavior and thus reinforcing bad behavior. But she gets plenty of {{huggles}} and if I find myself loosing patience I put her outside away from me. So, me thinks that the stubborness is part of the pit since our two kids have the pit in common. But aren't they wonderful pooches!

Hollyn Howdy. How are you this fine evening? Bad memories of Humanties? How could that be? shivers

Dianne, who has lots of Hope and Charity, but no Faith... says:
(Tue Apr 3 20:09:07 2001 209.246.183.254)
Lil Pia -- Ah, for your faith. (not Faith, even though she's cute.) I'm sure there are devout Pagans / WICCANS / witches, just as I'm sure there are devout Christians. I'm afraid they're just few and far between. (For both Pagans and Christians.) I've had adults swear that I'd performed Magic, and had to convince them that it was just slight-of-hand. OK, so I'm a skeptic, cynic, jaded, dyed in the wool agnostic. I've seen a lot of people hurt by dabbling in Magic. 20 years ago, there was a very well-respected coven in Athens, GA that recruited emotionally unstable college girls for sexual rituals. On the outside, they were very pious and devout. But talking with members and ex-members was scary. I don't think there's anything wrong with studying the occult, the Bible, the Koran, or even (God help us) the book of Mormon. But I'd advise anyone who's looking for a mentor or a "church home" to go in with their eyes open. (Have I managed to offend all religious affiliations yet?)

Thoughts and prayers going out to The Everdawns, Margot, Olivia, Morella, StGermain, StG's sister's co-worker, Catriona and her sisters, drdan and her family, Keywe, VaBuffyFan, Blackheart, Rebel (British Angel), Thy Slayer, STORM, and as always, La Timide

wolfguard: Yes, Tara would be able to control Huskies much better than Faith. They'd just bite Faith, she'd hurt or kill them, then she'd die in the cold, while the Huskies would help keep Tara warm. Okay, so rambling on - stopping now.

Algerina: I loved that moment of Xander's. Since then, he's had a more active and commanding presence. It showed that he had some balls and would stand up to Buffy's eternal pouting. But of course, everyone sees it differently. :) My favorite moment of the ep, though is the end with Xander and Anya - very precious.

EverDawn: I did the comparative religion class, too. Thank goodness it was the community college, people were taking it for a credit, and nobody wanted to speak up. *g* I'm just going to need to find the time to schedule something, but right now my head is swimming with dates and responsibilities. *g*
